On March 13, 2019, Corporal Daniel Groves stopped to assist a motorist that had slid-off the roadway on westbound Interstate 76 near Roggen, Colorado during a significant winter storm. Moments after exiting his patrol car, Corporal Groves was struck by an out of control westbound vehicle. Corporal Groves was transported to a local hospital, but he was declared deceased shortly after arrival.
Groves entered the Patrol on July 16, 2007.
